Charity Commission set to receive CIO applications
The secondary legislation necessary to implement the Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) passed through Parliament on 28 November 2012 and the Charity Commission will start to accept applications for registrations from noon on Monday 10 December 2012.
Margaret Craton, Head of Charities & Education at asb law states: "The long awaited CIO structure is now available for new charities from the new year, with conversion from existing charities being phased. The CIO offers the benefits of a corporate structure to small and medium sized charities but with simpler administration."
